My Approach to the Therapeutic Process
My approach is definitely an integrative one, as I feel every person has different needs and modalites that will be effective for them. My primary orientations are based upon transpersonal, existential, somatic body-centered work, mindfulness-based concepts and cognitive-behavioral therapies.... and laughter when we can. I do not believe that therapy has to be a daunting, unenjoyable experience, in fact, it can be quite the opposite. I like to use a multitude of techniques and combine our resources when we work together. I strongly believe that the body is the home of our wisdom and we can go to it for invaluable information to help guide us appropriately. No one knows you as well as you do, so we will always be coming back to this internal wisdom as a source. Do not worry if you feel out of touch with this wisdom now, you can always learn how to tune in!
Additionally, I use Brainspotting for the treatment of trauma, emotional/body pain and other conditions, and completed this training with David Grand, PhD. I have also completed Sensorimotor I training with Pat Ogden for the treatment of trauma. I have personally educated myself on EMDR and practice a modified version of it which I find to be very effective.

I have received training in the DeMartini Method, and plan to continue to explore and train on how this can create resolution and liberation from emotional stressors. I do not practice this method but I do understand and utilize its philosophy.
Given that healing often requires a dynamic, multidisciplinary team and approach, I work closely with professionals and treatment centers in our community who specialize in medicine, psychiatry, nutrition, education, alternative medicine and support networks. I respect all sexual orientations, and spiritual and religious affiliations, and feel that belief systems can be used effectively as support in the therapeutic process.
